Monitoring and evaluation of the current project

Monitoring and evaluation of the project began in March. Project coordinator Simone NKOUANJIO and team member Etiennette OWONO (Assistant Social Affairs and member of the Association FEPES) began visiting the 30 groups involved in the project.

The visits were used to assess the contribution of each group to the project and to verify the effectiveness of the use of textbooks in schools that received donations from the project. The groups received further explanations on subjects that were not mastered during the original group training, and the trainers will reinforce this knowledge during their monitoring visits.

Le suivi et l’évaluation du projet en cours

Le suivi et l’évaluation du projet ont commencé au mois de mars dernier. Il s’est agi pour la coordonnatrice du projet  Simone NKOUANJIO et Etiennette OWONO (assistante des affaires sociales et membre de l’association FEPES) de descendre dans les 30 groupes impliqués dans le projet. 

Cette descente a permis d’évaluer la participation de chaque groupe au projet et de vérifier l’effectivité de l’utilisation des manuels scolaires dans les écoles ayant reçu les dons du projet. Les groupes ont reçu encore des explications à ce qu’ils n’avaient pas bien assimilés lors de la formation, en attendant que les formateurs viennent renforcer ces connaissances pendant leur suivi.

Administrative and traditional authorities, teachers, parents and children took part in the meeting. The occasion lent itself to a real awareness education for young girls.

Les cérémonies de distribution des fournitures scolaires étaient identiques dans toutes les régions : Adamaoua, Nord, Extrême-Nord.

Autorités administratives et traditionnelles, corps enseignant, parents et enfants ont pris part à la rencontre. L’occasion a prêté à une véritable sensibilisation  à la scolarisation des jeunes filles.

Cérémonies de distribution des fournitures scolaires dans le Nord-Cameroun.

Elles ont eu lieu à l'Ecole Publique de DOUKA-GAINAKO, à l'école publique de KOUBADJE et à l'Ecole Publique de Sorawel au mois de Novembre 2012.Mme OWONO Etiennette de l'Association FEPES de Garoua, Elie DJALA et BAKARI du Crédit du Sahel de Guider ont présidé ces cérémonies par des discours suivie de la distribution de 85 livres en moyenne par école (des classes de SIL, CMI et CMII) et des cahiers et des crayons. Les discours étaient les mêmes: un message de sensibilisation rédigé par la coordonnatrice du projet, Simone NKOUANJIO au sujet de la scolarisation de la jeune fille rurale et adressé aux parents, enseignants et enfants.

Ceremonies for the Distribution of School Supplies in the North Region of Cameroon

Ceremonies were held at the public school of DOUKA-GAINAKO, public school of KOUBADJE and public school of Sorawel in November 2012. Mme OWONO Etiennette FEPES Association of Garoua, Elie Djala and BAKARI of Crédit du Sahel Guide presided over the ceremonies with speeches followed by the distribution of an average of 85 books per school (classes SIL, CMI and CMII) and notebooks and pencils. The speeches were the same: including an awareness message written by the project coordinator, Simone NKOUANJIO about the importance of girls education education, especially in rural areas, which was presented to parents, teachers and children of the respective villages.

Training of Group Leaders, Continued

After the launch in Adamawa, the training of group leaders continued in the North, Far North and Adamawa even more during the last 2 weeks of October 2012.

The trainers were M Alim of EFA International, M AMADA and M. Hassan Hamadou in Maroua. M. Elie, a teacher in Ngong and Etiennette OWONO of Association FEPES in Garoua (team member Daniel NONZE of Association SADC was unable to train) trained the group leaders in one part of the North region and Mr. BAKARI of Credit du Sahel trained near Guider, another part of the North region.  Finally, M. ADAMA of Fadera Ngaoundere completed the final training in the Adamawa region.

The participants expressed their satisfaction and appreciated the fact that the training they received was relevant and could be immediately implemented in the management of their income-generating activities in rural areas.

At the end of this phase, 28 groups were trained with 86 group leaders participating.

The project will continue with ceremonies to distribute textbooks, exercise books, and supplies to schools in the coming days.

Après le lancement dans l’Adamaoua, les formations des leaders de groupe se sont poursuivies dans le Nord, l’Extrême-Nord et même dans l’Adamaoua encore pendant les 2 dernières semaines du mois d’Octobre 2012.

Les principaux formateurs  étaient M.Alim de EFA International , M.AMADA et M.Hassan Hamadou à Maroua, M. Elie enseignant à Ngong et Mme Etiennette OWONO de l’association FEPES à Garoua  (représentant M.Daniel NONZEde l’Association SADEC, empêché) et M. Les participants à ces formations ont exprimé leur satisfaction et apprécié le fait que ces connaissances leur parviennent à un moment comme celui-ci où un besoin  d’informations en gestion des activités génératrices de revenus se fait ressentir  dans les zones rurales.

Au terme de cette phase de formation des leaders de groupe, 28 groupes ont été formés dont 86 responsables.

Le projet se poursuivra avec les restitutions et les cérémonies de remise de fournitures scolaires dans les écoles dans les prochains jours.

The Adamawa Kicks Off Training!

With the training of trainers and group selection finished, the project "Entrepreneurial capacity building for rural women and the preparation of young girls in rural areas to be future entrepreneurs" has launched into the phase of the training group leaders.

The Adamawa kicked off on Saturday 14 0ctober 2012 at the microfinance institution MC2 Ngaoundéré. The trainer Mamoudou FAISAL provided entrepreneurship training to 22 group leaders rural areas, including 20 women and 2 men.

Here are the group leaders from the first training group in the Adamawa.

La  formation des  formateurs et la sélection des groupes finies, le projet « Entrepreneurial capacity bulding for rural women and the preparation of young girls in rural areas to be future entrepreneurs » entre dans la phase de la formation des leaders de groupe.

L’Adamaoua a donné le coup d’envoi le samedi  14 0ctobre 2012 dans les locaux de la micro finance MC2 à Ngaoundéré. Le formateur Mamoudou FAISAL  a dispensé la formation en entreprenariat à 22 responsables de groupes des zones rurales dont 20 femmes et 2 hommes. 

Results of the Field Surveys

After the training of trainers held on 8 and 9 September in Garoua, six trainers visited the field to interview 90 groups in the North, the Far North and Adamawa regions.

They collected information on the description of groups, their activities and their geographical location.

The selection committee, consisting of three team members, have combed through the 90 groups surveyed to retain 10 groups per region or 30 in total.

These 30 selected groups will be trained and supported throughout the project "Entrepreneurial capacity building for rural women and the preparation of young girls in rural Areas to be future entrepreneurs." Their leaders will be trained in creation and management of income-generating activities in the coming days.

The surveys were also used to select nine schools eligible for the distribution of school supplies for girls. The presentation of these kits will take place during the girls education awareness campaign, scheduled for the end of October.

Le résultat des enquêtes…

Après la formation des formateurs tenue les 8 et 9 septembre derniers à Garoua, 6 formateurs sont descendus sur le terrain pour enquêter 90 groupes des régions du Nord, Extrême-Nord et Adamaoua.

Ils ont recueilli des informations relatives à la description des groupes, de leurs activités et à leur situation géographique.

 Le comité de sélection composé de 3 personnes a passé au peigne fin les 90 groupes enquêtés pour retenir 10 groupes par région soit 30 au total.

C’est donc ces 30 groupes retenus qui vont être formés et accompagnés tout au long du projet « Entrepreneurial capacity building for rural women and the preparation of young girls in rural areas to be future entrepreneurs ». Leurs responsables vont déjà suivre une formation en création et gestion des Activités Génératrices de Revenus dans les prochains jours.

Les enquêtes ont aussi permis de sélectionner 9 écoles pouvant bénéficier de la distribution du matériel scolaire pour jeunes filles. La remise de ces kits scolaires aura lieu lors de la sensibilisation sur la scolarisation de la jeune fille, prévue à la fin du mois d’Octobre.
